Chinese industrial group Hengtong has strengthened its footprint in Brazil by acquiring local cable manufacturer Cabelauto through its company NP Soluções, according to BNamericas.
NP Soluções, established in October 2023 and headquartered in São Paulo, is a non-operational entity of the Hengtong Group. The group already operates in Brazil via subsidiary HT Cabos, which manufactures and supplies fiber optic cables primarily for the telecommunications sector. HT Cabos has participated in major connectivity projects such as Norte Conectado (Infovia 01) and has provided infrastructure solutions for Petrobras through HMN Tech, formerly known as Huawei Marine Networks.
Beyond fiber optics and submarine cables, Hengtong exports high-voltage, aluminum, and copper industrial cables to the Brazilian market, reinforcing its diversified portfolio in the country.
Founded in 1998 in Minas Gerais, Cabelauto specializes in the production and sale of aluminum and copper cables, as well as low- and medium-voltage power cables for a range of industries. The company serves key sectors including energy, transportation, civil construction, automotive, home appliances, and data centers. Cabelauto is part of the Plasinco Group, a supplier of inputs to companies within the cable industry.
The acquisition marks a strategic step for Hengtong as it deepens its presence in Latin America and expands its reach across multiple segments of the Brazilian cabling market.
