Seco Tools has introduced the Double Turbo 11 milling insert, a new indexable solution designed to improve efficiency and surface quality in milling operations while supporting use on smaller machines and shallow cutting depths. The development targets manufacturers seeking to extend tool life and optimise productivity across a broad range of materials.

The Double Turbo 11 is engineered as a square-shoulder milling insert suitable for face, side and slot applications. Its double-sided design provides four cutting edges, reducing tooling costs while maintaining reliable performance. The geometry has been refined to support machining at lower depths of cut without compromising accuracy, making it appropriate for processing steel, cast iron and high-performance alloys.

A core feature of the design is its compatibility with lower-horsepower machines. The support face reduces load on the centre screw by 25%, enhancing durability and minimising the risk of component failure. Practical enhancements such as a centre-locking screw and clearly marked edges facilitate faster insert changes, helping operators reduce downtime and maintain smoother workflows.

Product manager for square-shoulder milling, Michael Davies, emphasised the objective of delivering strong performance across diverse manufacturing environments. He noted that the Double Turbo 11 combines robust engineering with user-friendly features, enabling manufacturers to achieve productivity gains even on compact equipment.

The new insert aims to support consistent machining results while reducing operational costs and maintenance requirements. By offering multiple cutting edges and optimised geometry, it provides a high-performance milling solution capable of meeting modern production demands.

With the launch of Double Turbo 11, the company seeks to strengthen its portfolio of indexable milling tools, providing manufacturers with solutions that balance efficiency, cost-effectiveness and surface quality in everyday machining applications.
