Myanmar has taken another step toward accelerating agricultural mechanization with a multi-day Agricultural Machinery Exhibition aimed at expanding farmers’ access to modern equipment and improving productivity across the sector. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Department of Agricultural Mechanization, and the Myanmar Agricultural Machinery Entrepreneurs Association.
Now in its second day, the exhibition is being held at the University of Agriculture and Livestock Science in Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw, and has drawn strong participation from farmers, students, industry representatives, and the general public. On the morning of December 23, around 130 farmers from the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory attended the event, while afternoon sessions attracted more than 250 visitors from Yangon, Bago, and Ayeyawady regions, along with agricultural professionals and university students.
A key highlight of the exhibition is the live demonstration of agricultural machinery in operation, alongside practical crop cultivation demonstrations. Visitors are being guided through the equipment’s functionality and applications by senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, departmental representatives, and technical staff from participating private companies.
Running from December 22 to 24, the exhibition brings together 22 companies showcasing more than 300 types of agricultural machinery across 30 exhibition booths. The event is open to the public free of charge and also offers opportunities for interested buyers to purchase machinery at more affordable prices, supporting the broader goal of making mechanized farming more accessible to farmers nationwide.
Officials say the initiative is designed to encourage wider adoption of modern agricultural equipment, enable more efficient use of mechanized power, and help farmers increase cropping intensity, including the potential to cultivate multiple crops up to three times a year.
