Siemens Xcelerator Adds Xometry AI for Real-Time Part Pricing

Siemens and Xometry have integrated AI-powered manufacturing intelligence directly into Siemens Xcelerator. Engineers using the platform can now access real-time pricing, manufacturability feedback, and supplier data without leaving their design environment. The integration covers both electronic and custom mechanical parts through a single workflow.

Siemens is backing the partnership with a $50 million investment in Xometry Class A common stock. This signals a strategic bet on AI-driven supply chain intelligence as a core differentiator in industrial software.

Closing the Gap Between Design and Sourcing

Design engineers typically face a fragmented workflow when moving from CAD to procurement. Manufacturability checks, cost estimates, and supplier searches often require separate tools and manual data entry. This creates delays and increases the risk of design revisions late in the development cycle.

The Siemens-Xometry integration addresses this by embedding sourcing intelligence directly into the design thread. Engineers receive instant feedback on whether a part can be manufactured, at what cost, and with what lead time. This data appears within Siemens Designcenter as designs evolve.

Technical Capabilities of the Integration

Xometry brings its Instant Quoting Engine and Design for Manufacturing AI into Xcelerator. These tools draw on millions of part files and production outcomes from a global network of over 5,000 active suppliers. The system provides automated DFM feedback based on real-world manufacturing constraints.

Thomas, Xometry’s industrial sourcing network, adds access to approximately 500,000 vetted North American suppliers. This extends Xcelerator’s existing design-to-source capabilities in electronics—powered by Siemens’ Supplyframe—into standard and custom mechanical components.

The integration operates as a native workflow. Users do not need separate logins or external platforms. Pricing, lead times, and supplier options update in real time as geometry and specifications change.

What Engineers Can Expect in Practice

The combined system targets several friction points in the design-to-production handoff. Key capabilities include:

  • Instant manufacturability checks against real supplier capabilities
  • Automated cost estimates that update with design changes
  • Lead time visibility for multiple manufacturing processes
  • Bill of materials intelligence covering both electronic and mechanical parts
  • Execution tracking as parts move from design intent to physical production

By surfacing this data during active design sessions, the integration aims to reduce late-stage revisions. Engineers can make cost and feasibility trade-offs before releasing designs to procurement teams.

Leadership Perspectives on the Partnership

Randy Altschuler, co-founder and CEO of Xometry, emphasized the timing advantage. “This partnership enables us to deliver intelligence to engineers inside the design systems and workflows where manufacturing decisions are made,” he stated. “When that intelligence is embedded inside the world’s leading industrial software, everyone wins.”

Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, highlighted the convergence of digital twin technology and manufacturing data. “By infusing Siemens’ comprehensive digital twin expertise and industrial AI innovation with large-scale, AI-driven manufacturing intelligence, we’re breaking down the boundary between design and production for our customers,” he said.

Strategic Implications for Industrial Software

The $50 million equity investment signals that Siemens views AI-powered sourcing as a long-term competitive advantage. As product development cycles compress, the ability to validate cost and manufacturability in real time becomes more valuable.

The partnership also reflects a broader trend toward closed-loop design environments. Rather than treating CAD, simulation, and procurement as separate domains, integrated platforms aim to keep engineers within a single ecosystem. This reduces context switching and accelerates decision-making.

For manufacturers and engineering teams evaluating PLM and design tools, the Siemens-Xometry integration represents a shift in how sourcing intelligence reaches the design floor. The question is whether real-time AI feedback can meaningfully reduce time-to-production and prototype costs at scale.
