Aerospace manufacturer integrates digital automation platform to enhance process intelligence, reduce downtime, and expand production capacity. Autonomous manufacturing platform developer Flexxbotics has announced the deployment of its technology at Orizon Aerostructures, a vertically integrated aerospace technology company producing complex structural components for commercial aviation, defense, and space programs.

The implementation is designed to improve process trend intelligence, strengthen automated manufacturing compliance, and enable autonomous process control across Orizon’s production operations. By connecting and digitalizing critical factory assets, the platform integrates data from plant equipment, robotic systems, tooling, and parts, creating a comprehensive digital environment for production monitoring and optimization.

Through the deployment, Orizon is building a more autonomous manufacturing ecosystem by mapping multiple sources of production data into a unified system. High-frequency data streams—ranging from CNC machine operating conditions and spindle loads to robotic joint temperatures and probe measurements—are combined into contextualized datasets. These datasets are then used to enable closed-loop process adjustments and to support industrial artificial intelligence training, validation, and operational insights.

The new system allows Orizon to detect production anomalies earlier in the manufacturing cycle. As a result, the company expects to significantly reduce rework and scrap rates while improving overall operational efficiency. Early results indicate reductions in unplanned downtime alongside better resource utilization, enabling the manufacturer to increase available production capacity.

Flexxbotics also integrates data from MODIG machining systems, FANUC robotic equipment, and enterprise IT platforms such as Infor PLM and QCS. This integration provides deeper visibility across production processes and supports continuous optimization through automated adjustments and compliance monitoring.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Kansas City, Orizon Aerostructures operates across more than 850,000 square feet of manufacturing space and employs over 900 people. The company delivers precision manufacturing, specialty chemical processing, and large aerospace subassemblies to major aviation and defense programs worldwide.

With the adoption of the Flexxbotics platform, Orizon aims to strengthen digital connectivity across its multi-site manufacturing operations. The system enables real-time data exchange between machining, assembly, and quality control processes, supporting autonomous process management and full digital traceability required for aerospace and defense compliance.

The collaboration reflects a broader shift toward software-defined automation in advanced manufacturing. By orchestrating machines, robotics, and enterprise systems within a single digital environment, manufacturers are increasingly seeking to improve production reliability, maintain strict quality standards, and scale operations more efficiently.
