The global woodworking machinery market is on a steady growth trajectory, with its value expected to rise from USD 33.6 billion in 2024 to approximately USD 50.7 billion by 2034, expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.2% between 2025 and 2034. Europe remained the leading regional market in 2024, accounting for 38.7% of global consumption, supported by strong industrial activity and established furniture manufacturing hubs.

Woodworking machinery encompasses a wide range of tools and equipment used to cut, shape, drill, smooth, and finish wood products. These range from manual tools such as sanders and routers to advanced industrial systems including CNC routers, planers, and automated production lines. Market growth is being driven primarily by rising demand for precision, efficiency, and customization, particularly in the furniture manufacturing sector, where design complexity and quality standards continue to increase.

Technological advancement is reshaping production processes across the industry. CNC routing machines and automated systems are enabling manufacturers to deliver intricate designs with greater consistency, reduced material waste, and lower labor costs. Despite the growing adoption of automation, manual woodworking machinery continues to dominate the market, holding a 56.2% share in 2024. Analysts attribute this to lower acquisition and maintenance costs, as well as the greater control manual machines offer for custom and low-volume production.

By product type, routers and CNC routing machines emerged as the largest segment, accounting for 36.5% of the total market. Their versatility allows them to perform multiple operations—such as cutting, engraving, drilling, and shaping—with high accuracy, making them particularly attractive for both large-scale manufacturers and custom furniture producers. Their ability to work with various materials, including wood, plastics, and composites, further strengthens their market position.

Furniture manufacturing remained the dominant application area, representing 61.5% of total market demand in 2024. The sector’s emphasis on detailed craftsmanship, customized designs, and high-quality finishes aligns closely with the capabilities of advanced woodworking machinery. In contrast, construction-related woodworking typically relies on more standardized processes and simpler equipment.

From a sales channel perspective, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) led the market, accounting for 58.6% of total sales. OEMs continue to invest heavily in new and technologically advanced machinery to improve efficiency, precision, and output at scale, while aftermarket sales remain largely focused on maintenance and replacement parts.

Despite positive growth prospects, the market faces challenges, including high upfront costs for advanced machinery and ongoing supply chain disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions. At the same time, sustainability requirements, along with continued trends toward automation and customization, are expected to further shape the competitive landscape, reinforcing the strategic importance of woodworking machinery in modern manufacturing.
